Oppositional Defiant Disorder Therapy - Camali Clinic

About Service

Making Lives Better

Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) is a behavioural condition characterised by a persistent pattern of angry, irritable mood, argumentative behaviour, and defiance towards authority figures. While some opposition is a normal part of child development, ODD involves a level of intensity and persistence that significantly disrupts family life, school, and peer relationships. At Camali Clinic, our specialist team works with children, adolescents, and their families using evidence-based approaches to reduce conflict and build healthier patterns of communication and behaviour.

Who Needs It

Children and adolescents who display a persistent and disruptive pattern of defiant, hostile, or non-compliant behaviour toward parents, teachers, or other authority figures – lasting at least 6 months and causing significant impairment at home or school.

  • Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) – a structured approach that helps children develop the skills to manage frustration and solve problems without conflict
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) – helping the child or adolescent identify triggers, manage emotions, and develop more adaptive responses
  • Family therapy – improving communication patterns and reducing family conflict
  • School liaison and behaviour support planning – working with teachers to implement consistent strategies across home and school
  • Psychiatry consultation where co-occurring conditions (e.g. ADHD, anxiety) need to be assessed or treated
