Life Skills Program
Introduction to Life Skills Program
The Life Skills Program is a comprehensive educational initiative designed specifically for teenagers and young adults of determination. Our program aims to equip these individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in society while fostering independence and promoting personal growth. At the core of our program philosophy is recognising that every student is unique, and their individual needs and interests are given utmost consideration during program development.
Our primary objectives are centred around empowering our students to become independent, self-determined individuals who actively contribute to their communities.
Our Clinician

KEY AREAS
- Promoting Independence: Our program promotes independence among our students, enabling them to navigate daily life with confidence and self-reliance. We prioritize the development of essential daily living skills that empower individuals to manage their routines, responsibilities, and challenges.
- Daily Living Skills: We facilitate the development of crucial life skills, such as personal hygiene, cooking, money management, time awareness, and accessing community resources. Equipping our students with these practical skills empowers them to lead self- sufficient lives.
- Self-Determination and Self-Advocacy: We strive to give our students insight into their self-determination and self-advocacy. Through our program, they gain the tools to express their needs, preferences, and opinions effectively while understanding their rights and responsibilities.
- Community Engagement: We believe in fostering social connections and community engagement. Our program supports students actively participating in their communities, promoting inclusivity, and building meaningful relationships with others.
- Employment Opportunities: We provide our students with exposure to various employment settings. To achieve permanent employment, we focus on developing essential skills such as resume writing, job searching, workplace etiquette, and effective communication.
Our dedicated program staff comprises highly qualified and experienced professionals with a wealth of expertise. We prioritize staff members with experience in Special Education to ensure the highest quality of teaching and support. The student-to-staff ratio of 2:1 allows for personalized attention and guidance tailored to the specific needs of each individual.
Assessment plays a crucial role in our program, as we aim to track and monitor the progress of our students effectively. We gather valuable insights through highly functional transitioning assessments to create detailed reports and draft goal plans. These assessments culminate in forming a Transitioning Individualized Educational Plan (TIEP) for each student, ensuring their unique needs and goals are addressed effectively.

THE LIFE SKILLS PROGRAM OFFERS TWO PROGRAM LEVELS TO CATER TO INDIVIDUAL NEEDS:
- Pre-Vocational Program( ages 10-15) This program level provides flexibility and is carefully tailored to each student's requirements. The core curriculum focuses on vital life skills, including functional academics, self-care, appropriate behaviour, personal safety, road safety, time awareness, and more.

Vocational Program( ages 16 and above): Our vocational program offers a tailored curriculum that centres around three key domains: daily living, interpersonal, selfdetermination, and employment skills. In addition to the core domains, our program integrates social, cognitive and communication skills, enhancing social interactions, perspective- taking, empathy, and effective communication in various contexts.
